  Let me answer that one, Steve. I am the one behind the camera and also, as it so turns out, the one who edited the hours of video. The kayak actually took three days to put together. We had to keep coming back at approximately the say time, wearing the same clothes for three nights to shoot it. Just kidding!

  I am sorry that I edited out my comment that setting up the Klepper actually took longer than getting Aaron’s old Rave put together for an outing. I also edited out the part where they had to take the frame back out and remove a few pieces that weren’t supposed to be attached yet.

  All told, it took a little over an hour… or two.

  Aaron, thanks for this. I’m really interested in Klepper kayaks as a “packable” option for our family (there’s just not room for Hobie’s Adventure Island on our boat, it’s hard enough to pack on the living needs for a family of 5!). Can you comment on the performance? Any comparisons in that light to non-folding kayaks? We’re looking for another floating car to transport some combination of parents & kids. Are there any organizations of local (greater Seattle) klepper owners where we might see one in person?

  I don’t have extensive experience with different kinds of kayaks so hesitate to say something very authoritative about about relative performance. Better than the inflatables I’ve tried. Not disappointing compared to other sea kayaks. You’ll want to have a fair amount of clear deck space if you intend to set it up on board.
