I encountered a small flotilla of incredibly charming little boats this weekend. I think of my C-Dory as a pocket cruiser with pint-sized, classic looks, but these boats are positively precious. I was smitten.

I spoke briefly with Bruce and Vicki Bridwell, aboard their 1958 Skagit 20 Express (and note the classic Johnson outboard they’re running). It turns out these folks are all associated with FiberGlassics Northwest, dedicated to the restoration and enjoyment of classic fiberglass cruising boats.
The club started out as the Classic Skagit Boat Club (and even before that, “The Skag Boys”), but they’ve expanded their scope to cover a wider range of boats from the early days of fiberglass, even some with wood hulls. By the way, these Skagit boats have no connection with the modern Skagit/Orca line.
If you like the look classic boats, you can see a lot more of them at the La Conner Classic Yacht and Car Show each September in La Conner, Washington.

Tim, your C-Dory is a classic. I live on Whidbey, so see them leave Les’ shop at Cornet Bay. Was just admiring one off Skagit Island weekend before last.
Hope to see you out on the water,
BillR

Have 1959 Skagit to restore and sell. Runs good with custom trailor, but ugly oxidation. Needs paint restored. Red and white. Any advice? Laura (530) 510-6455
