We often hear folks describe something as “the Swiss Army Knife of [gadget category].” Heck, over the years I’ve probably proclaimed lots of things “the Swiss Army Knife of” one kind of thing or other. But this time, I really, really mean it.
The Team Alinghi Knife actually is the Swiss Army Knife of sailing knives! I guess when a Swiss team wins the America’s Cup, you’ve got to expect this sort of thing.
But it’s not just hype. Well, I mean, it’s not ENTIRELY hype, ’cause, you know, this product appears to come with an extra large helping of hype.
OK, nevermind that. All I’m trying to say is that the Team Alinghi Knife is made by Wenger, the genuine Swiss Army Knife company. See, that’s why it’s the Swiss Army Knife of sailing knives.
As you would expect, it appears to have a lot of blades and tools one needs aboard a sailboat. I’m especially fond of the marlin spike/shackle pin wrench/ruler blade; that’s pretty clever.
