BitterEnd, On-Duty, On-Call, On-Line

May 6th, 2008 · by Tim Flanagan, Managing Editor

Captain Richard Rodriguez is based in Friday Harbor, on San Juan Island, for the next four months. So his BitterEnd blog has just shifted into “summertime mode”, which means we get daily (or so) reports about Vessel Assist calls to which he responds aboard Remedy.

As I mentioned last week, this year he’s bringing SPOT technology along, so we can actually follow his progress in near-real-time. Of course, you won’t know that he’s on a call until he writes it up later.

UNLESS you follow him on Twitter. Twitter is a funny little “micro-blogging” site where you answer the question “What are you doing?” in 140 characters or less, as often as you like, using your computer or your cell phone.

I’m on there, as is Navagear publisher Aaron. Captain Rodriguez is active there, as is Captain John Konrad of gCaptain.

If you’re active on Twitter, you can include any of us on your watch list. If you use it yourself, let us know in the Comments.
