My Kalakala Photos In Print!

June 18th, 2008 · by Tim Flanagan, Managing Editor

Hey, what do you know, I’m a famous photo-journalist!

Well, I had some pictures published, anyway. In Monday’s edition of the Peninsula Daily News, to be precise.

Editor and publisher John C. Brewer saw the photos I posted a couple weeks back, and asked if he could use them for the paper.

“Yeah, sure, as long as you mention Navagear.com!” I admit it, I love publicity. Anyway, thanks for giving my pictures such a great layout, John.

    Cool Beans Tim,

I look at the PDN’s page on a regular basis.

    Tim:

It was our pleasure. Great photos! And they got a lot of reader comment here about the rusted, beat-up condition of this once-storied ferry. Many people in Port Angeles remember taking the streamlined, silvery Kalakala when it carried cars and passengers from Port Angeles to Victoria.

And the Port Angeles downtown has a huge mural dedicated to the Kalakala.

    Again, thank you, Tim.
