PLB Versus SPOT: What’s The Difference?

We’ve talked about this before (here and here), but it’s not surprising that folks are still confused about the difference. The question on the table:

“What is the difference between a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) and other distress-alerting devices such as the SPOT Satellite Messenger?”
