Our friend Todd Lappin of Telstar Logistics has gotten himself published in a real newspaper! Great job, Todd…there’s no telling how long these print-media dinosaurs are going to survive, and you’ll be able to tell your grandchildren you were published in the New York Times.

He got the Canon SD1100 IS right … I wouldn’t recommend that to anyone … on the other hand,
The Canon SD800 IS ( it’s new replacement is the SD 880 IS I think) are perfect cameras for boats. The built in wide angle capability in the zoom capability is great for capturing pictures of family and friends in the cockpit, taking pictures of people doing almost anything from just four to six feet away, or getting a picture of three or four people crowded together from just eight feet away. As long as it’s bright out, the camera will auto select settings that will keep the background outside the boat in focus as well. Wide angle camera’s offer less zoom, but the zoom on this camera is well within the range of getting good pictures of people 30 feet away on opposite ends of the boat. And the quality is very good, even for posting in magazines and internet website’s (all the photo’s I post on Panbo are from this camera).
Being one of the top camera picks in 2007, there are a number of them around. I would highly recommend getting one used, and leaving it on your boat for guests to pass around and take pictures underway.
