I recently received an email from Kieran Breheny, managing director of Navigate-us.com. It looks like it could be a very valuable site, a tremendous resource for consumers.
Like Panbo and Navagear, Navigate-us should help reinforce the idea, sometimes slow to sink in with manufacturers, that “markets are conversations”.
Here’s some background on Navigate-us, from the site:
Navigate-us is the world’s largest marine electronics navigation comparison website. It is unbiased and is built on integrity using world class boating knowledge and extensive experience in the marine electronics industry.
The guidance section, outlining the most important aspects of marine electronics, will help you with your purchasing decision and ensure you buy products best suited to your type of boating.
The website does not supply prices directly as this varies depending on installation requirements and changing product costs. The guidance section covers an explanation of the price brackets (Low-Medium-High) for each of the product groups. You can search for products that fit your budget.
The dealer links will provide you with the most up-to-date market pricing and ensure you have everything required for a successful installation.
About us- the Founders
Navigate-us was founded in 2008 by Kieran Breheny and Bruce Pelkey, both qualified engineers with over 20 years experience designing marine electronics. Kieran lives in the South of England, close to the Solent. Bruce resides in Southern Florida. Both enjoy getting on the water as often as possible. The need for the website became obvious to them after spending many years listening to customers, both novice and experienced, talk about their electronic navigational equipment and the time consuming task of reviewing manufacturers data. This site is aimed at helping those customers – and to bring new customers to boating.

Panbo is a reporter\writer who evaluates products and provides educated opinions with little to gain except the notariety that allows him to be employed a writer for magazines.
Navigate-US is just a front for a brick an mortar store with a realy lame “recomend” web page. Their guidance is just price based and is single vendor.
Don’t discredit Panbo by lumping him in with a sales gimmick.
Patrick, thanks for the quick comments, but they are not correct.
The objective of Navigate-us.com is to assist boaters to select the most appropriate marine electronics for their needs. Too many people select the wrong equipment or simply accept whatever their dealer installed. In the long run they aren’t happy, their dealer isn’t happy and the manufacturer isn’t happy. The founders of Navigate-us.com have seen this too many times. So we set up the site to assist boaters. All major manufacturer’s products are on the site- it is not single vendor. Check the site and you will see.
Navigate-us is not a brick-and-mortar store; we have no store at all. After using the “Compare” section the user has the option to request quotes from local dealers. The user does not have to request a quote- they can simply print a list of units that match their criteria and shop wherever they choose. Again, check the site for yourself.
The “Compare” section uses many criteria to help find the best product for an application- display size, power, feaures… It is not just price based.
Thanks,
Bruce Pelkey
