MadMariner feature: Magma kettle tips

by Tim on July 9, 2009

Time for another Navagear feature at MadMariner! In it, I summarize some of my experiences with the Magma kettle stove/grill.

I’ve encountered problems, and sometimes I’ve discovered solutions. The Magma kettles are very popular, and this article should be valuable to anyone who owns one, or who is shopping for a barbecue.

PLUS, the teaser photo shows you how I toast bagels for my almost-famous Bagel Eggel breakfast sandwich! :-) The trick: spray the inside surfaces with olive oil first. In fact, don’t do any cooking without a can of spray olive oil handy. Ever.

Tim:
Very timely report for me. I have a Magma charcoal grill that I have been using onboard for several years. Then I heard a report that it is better to cook with gas (carbon footprint wise). Also came across an article about cooking Bluefish that recommended gas over charcoal in cooking the fish. So when the current stock of charcoal onboard runs out. I’ll probably be looking at a new gas grill. Thanks for posting your piece.
