Ah, the kids these days…you know, the kids with their hula-hoops and their dungarees and their rock and roll music? Anyhoo, apparently the kids love the Facebook and the Twitter-tweeting. [Full disclosure: you can click these links to “follow” Navagear and PugetSoundMaritime on Twitter.]
So it should come as no surprise that the Seattle Boat Show has contrived a couple of promotions that use Facebook and Twitter.
So why should you get involved? Because of the prizes, of course! Here’s how the promotion works:
Anyone who begins following the Seattle Boat Show Fan Page on Facebook (http://facebook.seattleboatshow.com) or begins following the Seattle Boat Show page on Twitter (http://twitter.com/seattleboatshow) and re-tweets a promotional message that alerts users of the promotion is entered to win a $5,000 shopping spree at the Boat Show!
They are giving away $500 each week (announced on Fridays), and the big $5,000 prize will be given away the day before the show opens. Since there are currently under 1000 fans, the odds of winning are pretty good compared to most contests. Further details are on the show website.
Another promotion is the ringtone one: download the Seattle Boat Show ringtone and set it as your mobile phone’s ringtone and you’ll receive a free 16 oz. Seattle Boat Show Stadium Cup – perfect for taking on the boat. Just bring your mobile phone with you to the Show Information booth at Qwest Field Event Center – play the ringtone on your phone and you’ll get your free item. Two ringtone are available, but I’m a traditionalist, so I recommend the “marching band” one. Check out the details at: http://www.seattleboatshow.com/boatshow-ringtones.html
